I find this doesn't do much of anything except make less of your projectiles land on target. instead of a straight stream of bullets, you will fire a pattern almost resembling a flattened out double-helix. It's almost like having a sidekick come out and join you. Firing the weapon will make a portal appear next to you that will auto-target different enemies and nuke them. Portal Beam - one of the best traits in the game.Rounds will hit enemies, then home in on another enemy. Rounds can pass though objects allowing you to take more cover. Not very powerful but the clips are massive and the weapon has a high aim assist (projectile reactivity stat). This is a lot of people's favorite weapon. Fire rate on the Spitmaw goes through the roof when you hold down the fire button. Rapid Spitter - level 2 and 3 rapid spitter is one of my favorite traits in the game.Adds a powerful single shot in the center of the spread for lots of damage and also allows you to keep more distance from enemies while keeping damage high. Focuses the spread tighter for even more damage and allowing you to keep more distance between you and the enemies. It's ok in very specific situations but those situations almost never come up.

Kills most small enemies in one shot like the sword but unlike the sword, you don't stop moving when you attack. Requires you to usually get closer to enemies to really be effective but once you're used to never staying still, you can just run around the room picking off enemies one by one. Seriously consider picking up, especially if low on health.

Kind of a case of "does a little bit of everything but nothing well". Each hit has a chance to instantly reload one shot. More damage but you have to hold down and charge each shot.

Burst Fire - I personally like this trait but it limits your shot count before having to reload.Snubnose Barrel - I like this but only when combined with the burst fire trait.Fires one or more missiles with each shot that will auto-seek enemies. Good to pick up if you're looking for a new weapon. Homing Missile - I really like this one.

With a maxed out fire rate stat, the pistol fires as fast as a machine gun but with a higher damage per shot. And remember to experiment with different weapons yourself and find the traits that click with your play style! Modified SidearmĪ lot of people sleep on the pistol but it gets really good with a high fire rate stat. Reminder: weapon traits (and trait progress) are permanent! They carry over from run to run so making progress on them is always a good thing. Unlocking a level 1 trait requires 25 kills, level 2 requires 50 kills, and level 3 requires killing 100 enemies to unlock it. Higher level weapon traits come with higher proficiency levels. This is the trait level and a higher level on the trait will make it even better. You'll also notice that in the game menu just to the left of the weapon trait, you'll find either a 1, 2, or 3. Bolded traits are what I consider must-haves. If a trait has no note, it's because I'm personally neutral on it I could take it or leave it. This post will list all of the weapons and weapon traits in the game with notes on the the traits that I find are really good (as well as a few that I hate) so you can keep an eye out for them. If you're having a difficult time, having the right weapon with the right traits unlocked can be a huge boon to your run, sometimes even making the game flat out easy if you get lucky enough to find a good weapon with multiple good traits on it. I've done my best to list the weapons in order of discovery though it's been a while since I did my first playthrough. Note - this post lists every weapon in the game so if you'd like to discover them organically yourself proceed with caution.
